[Ready in 60 – 90 Minutes]
Also known as Abula, this combined soup is a vibrant soup that celebrates the textural contrast of Yoruba cuisine. This serving contains 5 Litres of this unique combo.
The preparation is a two-part harmony: Gbegiri is crafted from smooth, peeled and blended honey beans, while Ewedu is jute leaves that lend a light, drawing consistency. When served together, they present a beautiful contrast of thick yellow and vibrant green textures.
The flavour is smooth, earthy, and nutty from the beans, paired with the mild, fresh notes of the Ewedu. This unique combination has a satisfying texture that guides your meal perfectly.
This soup is highly nourishing, with Gbegiri providing high-quality plant-based protein and complex carbohydrates. Ewedu is rich in fibre (which aids digestion and makes swallowing easy) and Vitamins A and C, essential for general well-being.
This definitive Yoruba meal is traditionally enjoyed with a generous portion of Amala, or it can be paired with Eba or Pounded Yam.
