Cajun Blackened Dogee Fish (American Style)

Fish fillets coated in spices, pan-seared to a smoky crust.

Ingredients:

  • 4 dogee fish fillets
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Equipments:

  • Cooker
  • Cooking utensils
  • Skillet

Cooking Instructions:

STEP 1: Mix all dry spices together in a shallow dish
STEP 2: Brush dogee fish fillets with melted butter on both sides
STEP 3: Press fish into spice mixture, coating both sides generously
STEP 4: Heat vegetable oil in a cast iron skillet over high heat until smoking
STEP 5: Carefully place seasoned fish in the hot skillet
STEP 6: Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until blackened crust forms
STEP 7: Reduce heat if spices start to burn
STEP 8: Fish is done when it flakes easily with a fork
STEP 9: Remove from heat and let rest for 2 minutes
STEP 10: Serve immediately with lemon wedges
STEP 11: Accompany with dirty rice and coleslaw for authentic Cajun experience
